Loganair is a regional airline based at Glasgow Airport in Renfrewshire. It operates scheduled passenger flights within Scotland, across the wider UK, and to a small number of European destinations.
Island services make up a large part of its work. The airline links mainland Scotland with Orkney, Shetland, and the Western Isles, serves smaller airports such as Barra and Tiree, and runs the Orkney inter-isles network from Kirkwall. Beyond Scotland, its routes reach regional airports in England and Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey, and Ireland.
Loganair dates from 1962, when construction businessman Willie Logan took over an air taxi firm and began flying a single Piper Aztec from Renfrew. Its first scheduled service, between Dundee and Edinburgh, followed in October 1963. The airline later flew as a franchise partner of British Airways and then Flybe, returning to its own brand in 2017.
The current fleet combines ATR 42 and ATR 72 turboprops and Embraer 145 jets with smaller Twin Otter and Britten-Norman Islander aircraft suited to short island runways. Loganair codeshares with British Airways and has interline agreements with carriers including Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines, giving passengers through-ticketed connections to wider international networks. It also offers charter flights and cargo services.
From its Glasgow Airport base, Loganair serves a broad mix of Scottish regional and island routes. Its network includes connections to Orkney, Shetland, the Western Isles, Islay, Tiree, and other communities where air links play an important role in everyday travel and business connectivity.
