SSE Renewables develops, builds, owns, and operates renewable electricity generation across the UK and Ireland, covering onshore wind, offshore wind, and hydro. It is the trading name of SSE Renewables Limited, a Scottish-registered member of the SSE Group with its registered office at Inveralmond House in Perth. Its main Scottish sites are in Perth and Glasgow.
In Scotland the business operates what it describes as the largest fleet of hydro-electric assets, spread across eight hydro schemes with 1,459MW of installed capacity, including pumped storage and flexible hydro. Offshore, it holds 40% of the 588MW Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm off Caithness, which it operates on behalf of the joint venture, and 49% of the 1,075MW Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm, developed with TotalEnergies.
Elsewhere, SSE Renewables holds a 40% stake in the Dogger Bank Wind Farm in the North Sea alongside Equinor and Vårgrønn. Its development pipeline includes the proposed Berwick Bank Offshore Wind Farm, which the company says could deliver up to 4.1GW of installed capacity.
