Earth Blox is an Edinburgh software company that helps organisations assess nature and climate risk using satellite and environmental data. It is the trading name of Quosient Ltd, incorporated in Scotland in 2019. The company's office is on South Gyle Crescent Lane in west Edinburgh.
Its cloud platform lets users screen a single site or a whole portfolio, see which factors drive each score, and set up repeat analysis to track change over time. Datasets come from providers including IBAT, NASA, and the European Space Agency, and each result shows the data and processing steps behind it. The company supports reporting under frameworks including TNFD, EUDR, and CSRD.
Earth Blox grew out of Earth observation research at the University of Edinburgh's School of Geosciences and launched its service in May 2020. Founder Dr Genevieve Patenaude worked with Edinburgh Innovations, the university's commercialisation team, during the company's early development. Published work includes a project with Lloyds Banking Group analysing 5.1 million hectares of farmland.
