Heather Hills Farm is a family-run honey farm at Bridge of Cally, north of Blairgowrie in Perthshire. It produces Scottish heather honey and blossom honey from its own hives, along with a range of fruit preserves.
Early in the season the farm's bees are moved to the soft fruit fields around Blairgowrie, where they pollinate crops and gather nectar for blossom honey, a lighter set honey harvested in late June. Later in the summer the hives go onto heather in Perthshire, Royal Deeside, and beyond for the heather honey crop. The preserves are made with fruit from local growers whose crops the bees have helped to pollinate.
The business dates back to 1945, when it started with a single hive, and in 2018 it reported running around 1,300 hives. The current company was incorporated in 2007, and the farm holds SALSA food safety approval. Its honey and preserves are sold through farm shops, delis, and other retailers, and it has made the handcrafted jam sold at Edinburgh Castle.
