Edinburgh Airport is Scotland's busiest airport, located around eight miles west of Edinburgh city centre and operated by Edinburgh Airport Limited. VINCI Airports owns 50.01% of the airport, with Global Infrastructure Partners managing the remaining 49.99%. The airport is part of the wider VINCI Airports network.
Almost 17 million passengers travelled through Edinburgh Airport in 2025, the first time a Scottish airport had reached that annual total. The airport connects Scotland with destinations across the UK, Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia. Edinburgh city centre is served by tram and bus links as well as road connections from the airport.
The site began as Turnhouse Aerodrome in 1916, with commercial services starting in 1947. Edinburgh Airport Limited was incorporated in 1986. In 2026 the airport announced a £500 million multi-year investment programme covering infrastructure, operations and capacity as it prepares for further passenger growth.
