Irrigate App is an East Lothian technology company that supplies remote irrigation control for golf courses. The business is based at Meadowmill, near Tranent, and was incorporated in Scotland in August 2022.
Its system combines software, a mobile app, and hardware fitted to a course's existing irrigation valves. Instead of new control wiring, the valves are linked over a cellular network. The company says this makes an upgrade cheaper and less disruptive than replacing a full system. Course staff can run irrigation from a phone or PC, schedule watering by zone or time, and view usage data. The company has said a future release will add soil moisture sensing that triggers watering automatically.
Co-founder Ian McKenna developed the idea after seeing the cost of replacing an ageing system while on the committee at Prestonfield Golf Club in Edinburgh. The business is now jointly led with commercial director Joe Pacitti. In June 2026 it won £100,000 in the Scottish EDGE category of Round 27. It plans to use the funding for a dedicated sales and marketing hire and a third-generation hardware product.
