MantaRAI is an Edinburgh company working in AI governance and responsible AI. It combines consultancy with a software platform, helping organisations adopt artificial intelligence while managing regulatory, ethical, and operational risk.
Its consultancy work includes AI audits, mapping unofficial or "shadow" AI use inside organisations, writing AI governance frameworks and policies, and training staff. The platform is designed to translate AI regulation and risk developments into practical guidance and auditable workflows. It is aimed at regulated companies that need to demonstrate responsible AI practice during audits.
The business was founded in 2025 by Richard Palmer, an MSc Artificial Intelligence graduate of the University of Edinburgh's School of Informatics. It was registered as a company in Scotland in November 2025. MantaRAI took part in the Bayes Centre Venture Builder Incubator and was a Converge finalist in 2025. It went on to win a £10,000 Young EDGE award in Round 26 of Scottish EDGE and is a startup member of ScotlandIS.
