Pelion

Pelion is a Glasgow-headquartered provider of managed cellular connectivity for Internet of Things devices. It supplies multi-network IoT SIMs and eSIMs to businesses that need to connect equipment in the field, along with a platform for managing those connections.

Its service connects devices to mobile networks across many countries and supports standards including 4G, 5G, LTE-M and NB-IoT. Customers manage their SIMs through the Pelion Portal, which handles over-the-air updates, usage monitoring and API integrations. Target sectors include transport, fleet management, EV charging, energy and utilities, industrial equipment, retail payments and healthcare.

The business traces back to Stream Communications, incorporated in Glasgow in 2000 and later renamed Stream Technologies. Arm acquired the company and rebranded its platform as Pelion, before the business returned to independent operation. In 2022, Scottish Equity Partners invested growth capital to fund product development, sales and customer support.
