Scholes Chartered Accountants is an independent accountancy firm headquartered in Kirkwall, Orkney, with further offices in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Laurencekirk, and Lerwick. It began in the late 1960s as a small practice serving local businesses and individuals in Orkney.
The firm's services cover annual accounts, statutory audit, bookkeeping and VAT, payroll, business and personal tax, and business advisory work. It also offers international services through its membership of the MGI Worldwide network. The firm is registered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland to carry out audit work, and it acts for owner-managed companies as well as larger organisations. Press coverage names its client sectors as agriculture, engineering, fisheries, hospitality, and renewable energy.
In 2025 Scholes took over RSM UK's Lerwick office and its team of around 20 people. The move added roughly a third to the firm's headcount and gave it a permanent base in Shetland. Director Karen Scholes served as President of ICAS during 2025.
