Strachan & Kemp

Strachan & Kemp is a family-owned facilities management business based at Unit J1, Langlands Commercial Park, Kelvin Park South, in East Kilbride. It acts as a single point of contact for commercial property clients and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, supporting sites in Scotland and the North of England.

Its services cover maintenance, refurbishment, dilapidations, cleaning, landscaping and grounds maintenance, waste services, and on-call emergency repairs. Clients include property managers and facilities management firms, and Cats Protection has used the company for reactive maintenance at its operational and retail premises in Scotland. A South Lanarkshire Council growth grant helped it invest in high-pressure cleaning equipment.

Steven Smernicki founded the business in 2014, and it moved from Barrhead to two new units at Langlands after outgrowing its earlier premises. After reaching a record £4 million turnover, the business introduced a group structure, with Strachan & Kemp Commercial Services Ltd now owned by Strachan And Kemp Group Ltd, and has begun preparing to tender for public sector contracts.
