The Cairndale Hotel & Spa is a family-run hotel on English Street in the centre of Dumfries. Set in a Victorian sandstone building, it offers accommodation, dining, and a destination spa.
Cairndale Spa opened in July 2024 after a £2 million conversion of the hotel's former leisure club. Spread over about 1,300 square metres on two floors, it has six treatment rooms, a thermal pool, steam rooms and saunas, a herbal lounge, a private bathing suite, and a café and juice bar. Its product partners include VOYA, Tribe517, and Gaia Skincare, as well as a range created with the nearby Annandale Distillery. The hotel has also added a casual dining venue, The Oak.
The Wallace family has owned and run the hotel for more than 40 years through James Wallace (Dumfries) Limited, which was incorporated in 1982. The spa project received almost £400,000 of support from South of Scotland Enterprise, and in 2025 the hotel was named Independent Hotel of the Year at the Scottish Excellence Awards.
