Brigid Bio is an Aberdeen biotechnology company developing antibody-based immunotherapies for serious and drug-resistant invasive fungal infections. It is a spinout from the University of Aberdeen and is based in the Liberty Building on the Foresterhill Health Campus.
The company is working on monoclonal antibody treatments for high-risk patients. It is starting with infections caused by Candida species and plans to extend into mould and rarer infections. Its science draws on two University of Aberdeen research groups, the Aberdeen Fungal Group and the Scottish Biologics Facility. The work is at the preclinical stage, and the company is seeking investment and partners to take its therapies towards the clinic.
The co-founders are Dr Soumya Palliyil, chief executive; Professor Carol Munro, chief scientific officer; and Professor Andy Porter. The project went through Scottish Enterprise's High Growth Spinout Programme and received convertible loan note funding in May 2025. The university announced the spinout in July 2025, and in December 2025 the company won the £150,000 Future EDGE award at Scottish EDGE Round 26.
