Powersystems is an employee-owned high-voltage electrical engineering contractor that designs, installs, and commissions grid connections and electrical infrastructure across the UK. The company is headquartered in Yate, near Bristol, and serves Scotland from an office at Strathclyde Business Park in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire. It opened its first Scottish office there in January 2024 and moved to larger premises in the same business park the following year.
Its work focuses on connecting renewable generation to the grid, including substations at voltages up to 132kV, high-voltage cabling, protection systems, and SCADA. Projects cover wind, solar, battery storage, anaerobic digestion, hydroelectric, and electric vehicle charging schemes. As an accredited Independent Connection Provider, it offers an alternative to using the local distribution network operator for connection works, and it says it has connected more than 6GW of renewable generation since 2000.
Scottish contracts include electrical balance of plant works at Crystal Rig IV Wind Farm, where a 132/33kV substation was energised in October 2025, as well as Kennoxhead Wind Farm and Glen Kyllachy Wind Farm. The business traces its history back to 1977.
