Social Investment Scotland is an Edinburgh-based charity and social enterprise that lends to social enterprises, charities and community groups across Scotland. Its office is on George Street in Edinburgh city centre.
Lending is its main activity. Its website gives loan sizes from £25,000 to £875,000, and an investment manager sets interest rates case by case after assessing each organisation. SIS also runs business support programmes, webinars and peer groups, and provides an online tool that helps organisations judge whether they are ready to take on social investment.
SIS was established in 2001 to create a new source of finance for Scotland's third sector. As a charity, it reinvests its profits in its mission. The organisation reports £46.3 million in active loans and investments for 2025/26 and says its reach covers all 32 Scottish local authority areas.
