Howies is an independent group of restaurants in Edinburgh city centre serving seasonal Scottish food. The business runs Howies Waterloo at the foot of Calton Hill, Howies Victoria on Victoria Street in the Old Town, Scotts Kitchen directly above Howies Victoria, and Events by Howies.
The restaurants open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and Scotts Kitchen opens from breakfast for all-day dining. Menus draw on Scottish suppliers, including cured salmon from Belhaven Smokery, beef from Gilmour's butchers, Shetland mussels and cheese from Ian Mellis. Events by Howies handles private dining, offsite catering, corporate events and weddings.
Howies has operated in Edinburgh since 1990, and Inverhow Ltd now runs the restaurants and Scotts Kitchen. The Waterloo Place restaurant occupies a Georgian building dating from 1815, about five minutes' walk from Waverley Station. The business publishes a separate contact route for supplier enquiries.
