Brodies

Brodies is a tea and coffee business based at Newhailes Industrial Estate in Musselburgh, East Lothian, where it blends tea and roasts coffee. It trades through Brodie Melrose Drysdale & Co. Limited and traces its origins to 1867, when three tea merchants set up a firm in Edinburgh.

The product list covers loose-leaf and bagged teas, infusions, and roasted coffee beans, alongside handmade chocolates, fruit cakes, and shortbread. Brodies also supplies coffee machines and machine servicing, and its website takes trade enquiries from businesses as well as online retail orders. The company says it holds Fairtrade certification as a coffee roaster.

Brodies moved to a purpose-built unit in Musselburgh after earlier premises in Leith. Since 2007 it has been part of the Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group, the Italian coffee group, and the company says its teas are now sold through the group in more than 40 countries. It is listed as a member of Scotland Food & Drink.
