Brodie Engineering is a rolling stock engineering business in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. It provides maintenance, overhaul, refurbishment, and repair services to the UK rail and light rail sectors from two depots, Bonnyton Works and Caledonia Works.
Its work covers passenger trains, freight vehicles, and specialist infrastructure vehicles, together with engineering support, project management, and design of bespoke equipment. Recent case studies include crash damage repair on a Class 158 unit and overhaul work on Class 155 units. The company also offers a mobile service to rail customers across the UK and Ireland.
Chartered engineer Gerry Hilferty founded the company in 1996. In 2020 it acquired the former Wabtec works in Kilmarnock, a site linked to the Andrew Barclay locomotive engineering tradition, after Wabtec decided to close it. In February 2024 the rolling stock company Porterbrook agreed to take a 49% stake in the business.
