EnteroBiotix is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company based at Strathclyde Business Park in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire. It develops microbiome therapeutics designed to restore the gut's microbial community in people with gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
Its lead candidate, EBX-102-02, is an orally delivered, full-spectrum microbiome product made from screened donor material using the company's AMPLA drying technology. It is being evaluated in irritable bowel syndrome, with the first patient dosed in the Phase 2b RISE trial in July 2026, and has also been studied in liver cirrhosis and in patients undergoing stem cell transplantation for blood cancers. The company runs its own donor programme, Number 2, and operates MHRA-licensed GMP manufacturing facilities.
EnteroBiotix was founded in 2017 by Dr James McIlroy, its chief executive, and has raised more than £65 million. Its latest round, £19 million announced in April 2026, was led by Thairm Bio and the Scottish National Investment Bank. The company is also seeking licensing partners for later-stage development and commercialisation of EBX-102-02.
