Mackays makes marmalades, preserves and curds in Arbroath, continuing a Scottish preserve-making story that began in 1938. The original Mackay brothers converted a Carnoustie carrot-processing site into a jam factory, using fruit from surrounding fields. The brand later returned to the Mackays name and moved production to its current Arbroath facility in 2008.
The company still describes small-batch cooking in copper pans as central to how its products are made. Its range includes traditional and speciality marmalades, fruit preserves, curds and products for foodservice, with distribution extending beyond Scotland to international markets.
Mackay's Ltd operates from James Chalmers Road in Arbroath and is registered in Scotland under company number SC155016. For retailers, wholesalers, hospitality operators and other food businesses, Mackays is a Scottish manufacturer with an established preserve range and a long production history in Angus. Its Arbroath site remains the centre of that production.
