Murdoch Allan

Murdoch Allan is a family bakery business based in Hatton, near Peterhead in Aberdeenshire. It bakes Scottish morning goods and savouries, runs its own shops across north-east Scotland, and supplies supermarkets and independent retailers.

Its range includes Aberdeen butteries, mini butteries, floury buns, girdle scones, vol-au-vent cases, cinnamon twisties and Aberdeen pies. Products are sold through Murdoch Allan shops in Aberdeen, Hatton, Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Turriff and Mintlaw, through an online shop and in supermarkets including Morrisons. Wholesale customers deal with a dedicated sales team.

Murdoch Allan opened his first bakery on Cross Street in Fraserburgh in 1991, working with his family. The business is now led by managing director Paul Allan and bakes at its premises on Station Road in Hatton. In September 2026 it opened a butcher shop in Peterhead.
