mycoBiologics is an Aberdeen biotechnology company developing antibody-based treatments for serious fungal infections. It is a University of Aberdeen spinout, and its website lists a base at the university's Institute of Medical Sciences.
The company uses patient-derived human monoclonal antibodies to create a new class of antifungal therapy, aimed first at critical Candida infections in hospitalised patients. This work is built on a proprietary platform it calls FungoBiologic. Earlier plans also covered hospital-acquired Gram-negative bacterial infections that resist antibiotics. The company says it is now part of the INCATE portfolio.
Dr Fiona Rudkin leads the business as chief executive. She received a Wellcome Innovator Award for the fungal antibody programmes. The project was awarded £400,000 from Scottish Enterprise's High Growth Spinout Programme and took part in Opportunity North East's life sciences accelerator. mycoBiologics Ltd was incorporated in February 2024 and won £85,000 at Scottish EDGE Round 26.
