Garriock Bros

Garriock Bros is a construction, plant hire, and quarrying business headquartered at Gremista Industrial Estate in Lerwick, Shetland. It also has depots in Orkney, Edinburgh, and Inverness.

In Shetland the company carries out general building, civil engineering, and house building contracts, and it has been the Scottish agent for Norwegian Fjogstad houses since 1986. It runs plant and tool hire from depots in Lerwick and Brae, operates quarries, and provides haulage and skip hire. Other divisions handle new and used plant sales, contract crushing, marine and agricultural sales, and vehicle hire in Orkney. Recent work includes infrastructure for Hjaltland Housing Association's Staneyhill development in Lerwick and a grit removal plant at the Gremista wastewater pumping station.

The company was founded in 1975 by George Garriock as a small family joinery firm at Westerwick in Shetland. It first expanded beyond Shetland in 1986 by buying a tool hire business in Orkney, and in 1994 it bought the former Hewden plant hire depot in Shetland. It is CITB registered and a member of the Scottish Plant Owners Association and the Federation of Master Builders.
